Have you ever given a thought to what happens to a building when a pillar crumbles?
A few days ago over 200 people boarded a plane going to London from India, Amhedabad to Gatwick Airport in the UK. In a twinkle of an eye disaster struck. Out of these people were fathers, mothers, rocks, pillars, family men and women.
As tragic as that incident was, we have to look at the cost implications on their families. These people were men of honor, they were people of value, they were people who ensured their families were safe and saved from the harsh realities of life. They made sure bills where paid and food was readily available.
In a moment, their fate changed. Apart from the pain of loosing a loved one, the families have lost one of their sources of livelihood. The rent might stall to be paid, some might move into a smaller aparments to save cost, others might find it hard to pay medical bills, or put food on their table.
However, there were a few smart pillars in the tragedy. The ones who think 10 times ahead and focus on the future. Those are the ones that plan for unforeseen circumstances like these. They decided to take care of the families bills even in their absence. Be it medical bill or rent or school fees, everything.
As an insurance manager, the second thing that came to my mind was the life insurance companies that will pay thousands of dollars to families with insurance policies. They will be able to buffer the impact on their loved ones.
